Types of meditation
DID YOU KNOW THAT THERE ARE LEVELS OF MEDITATION in Houston? Most people think
that sitting with their hands crossed is meditating in a meditation
center. But if it were so simple the world would be a calm and
harmonious place.
Methods of Meditation
Walking Meditation - My favorite, walking through the woods or zoo.
Internal Consciousness - This is used to create awareness of self.
Don't get this confused with ego, self has nothing to do with ego
but more with reality awareness, from the simple heart beat, to
knowing who you are. Many people go through life unhappy, meditation
on this level can help bring about the awareness that will allow the
spirit to awaken to resolve problems, and for those of you that
don't have problems, this will still help you bring about awakening.
Reflective Meditation - deals with the ability to learn and change.
Wisdom of this type, derived only through meditation, begins during
this period. The other two previous meditations are initial stages
for this time of reflection. This whole period is an immenseness
period of growth that should be supported by surrounding oneself
with a life style that is supportive of your meditation. Which
includes humility and you should reflect on freeing yourself from
anger, greed, & jealousy.
Working Meditation - Yes, you can actually do this but it can take
practice.
Do this exercise. Sit with eyes closed, pretend in your mind you're
in a theater and you're looking at the movie screen. Now choose a
goal or purpose, start with something small see your self on the
screen sitting in meditation not moving, not thinking barely
breathing, quiet and serene. Now every day do this for 5 minutes. By
envisioning your self on the screen doing what you want to
accomplish, you can use this process to improve performance in any
aspect of life. Don't underestimate this exercise! This helps
prepare you for meditation.
