Camping in the Houston area
Besides camping at Sam Houston national forest , there are several spots in the Houston area to camp.
Traders Village Houston
open year-round for tent and RV camping. it's located just
minutes for the Kemah Boardwalk
resort facility which has boating, amusement rides and a water park. there is also a picnic area
complete with a playground for kids.
Jelly stone Park Lone star Campground
The Jelly stone Park Lone star Campground is located just south of
Houston and features RV
campsites as well as shaded tent sites. The park is located near Washington-on-the-Brazos
State Historical Park, known for scenic picnic areas, hiking . You can also climb the nearby
570-foot San Jacinto Monument tower.
Lake Somerville Marina and Overlook Park
Lake Somerville is a great Houston area location for swimming and
boating. offers RV
and tent camping sites right on the lake shore. Canoe and jet ski rentals make exploring
the lake a breeze.
Advanced RV Park
Great nature trails are plentiful in the Advanced RV
Park, which is located just outside
the city in the Houston Pearland region. The facilities fresh water lake is great for fishing
and swimming. The nearby Armand Bayou Nature Center features wetlands prairie, forest
and marsh habitats.
Lake Houston Wilderness Park
Travel north up highway 59 to the New Caney area and you’ll find a
large chuck of land owned by the city of Houston which is waiting
for you to come and play. 5,000 acres of
mostly wooded land that is only 30 minutes from downtown Houston. 24 individual camping
sites, 2 group camping sites, 2 lodges, about 12 miles of trails,
and about 7 miles of equestrian trails. People can swim
in the creeks .
